SAFARI
SAFARI:
Browsers are on phones from ages, so what makes SAFARI so great? Nothing! The good looking fonts don’t make a browser great. Apple calls it a ‘Breakthrough internet device’… really? With no support to java and flash and 3G? SAFARI doesn’t even load the iPhone’s site properly. Web browser’s on Nokia E-series and N-series are capable of doing everything that SAFARI can and even more. Unlike the other phone browsers, SAFARI crashes every time you play the music in the background. The touch screen interface is miserable as the ‘hyperlinks’ get clicked accidentally while navigating. Since the touch screen doesn’t read the fingernails, you have to use the finger and that always leads to a great mess on SAFARI. This is really annoying. It supports RSS feeds like other mobile phone browsers. Nothing is out of ordinary here.
One thing worth mentioning is the Java based browser from Opera. It is called Opera Mini. With the OperaMini lite version as small as 56kb, it can be installed on almost any phone that has Java support. ASA software has setup a proxy server running for opera mini so that you do not need full fledged GPRS service to visit secured sites. It also compresses the data according to your phone’s screen resolution, to speed up the process. It is free and can turn any dumb phone into a smart one. Sorry SAFARI, but OperaMini really beats the living hell out of you. Special Note: SAFARI is one of the rare apps developed by apple which doesn’t start with “i”, well how do you like ‘iBrowser’?
