A R Rahman goes international
A R Rahman admits that he becomes uncomfortable while one of his South Indian friends remarks,"Oh look at him... He's changed!" This is the result of the Hollywood impact, which is keeping the Indian Maestro too busy to acccept any further Bollywood assignment!
At the moment, he is racing against time to complete the Indian projects that he has on hand and that includes Mani Ratnam’s Raavana, Rajnikanth’s animation film Sultan and Tony D’Souza’s Blue. The last new assignment he accepted was Abbas Tyrewala’s 1:800-LOVE. He has stopped taking on anymore for now.
Inside the studio, he is as plain as that. But while attending international events, he to make sure that his outer appearance is alright. After all he is representing a super-power internationally! International brands are trying hard to dress him up to the best possible , though Rahman stays as shy and reclusive as he has always been!
Rahman declares that he is not doing everything for the sake of money, yet he admits that money is very important to carry the expenses of traveling etc. He asserts that anything he is doing is for the welfare of his family and children.
He says, “My wife dreamed that one day I’d win an Oscar which I did. But after that I’ve been constantly traveling. The kids are growing up now and one of us has to look after them. I’m spending as much time with them as I can. Or trying to make them part of what I do so they can be with me.”
